About the Author

Douglas Hynden

My name is Douglas Hynden, I am 70 years. I have a vivid imagination from my ADHD. I was born and raised in a small rural town in southern Iowa in the 1950’s. It is a church oriented town with a church based college also. I was the 5th generation to attend there graduating with a BA in Business. After getting my degree I went to work for the state of Iowa in a group home for both boys and girls. I worked for the state of Missouri after that in mentally disabled group homes. In the mid 70’s my first wife and I moved to Missouri so she could finish her degree. We were there 4 years in which time we bought an old rest home that had been converted to a family home with an apartment on the second floor. It was in this house that certain unexplained events took place. It took over my life completely, even my dreams. Trying to figure what was happening and why.

A great read with something for everyone. A great read, with something for everyone. The nostalgic look back at small town life in the Midwest in the 1960’s was my favorite part, evoking quiet summer nights, families sitting outside, and playing with friends until the street lights came on. But interwoven with that is also a classic story of good versus evil, a coming of age story, and a mystery that gradually reveals itself. Those three elements make this book shine. The writing is easygoing and down to earth, with good dialogue, excellent descriptions of country life, and it brings the reader along at their own pace, despite being a quick read. The ending illuminates things about our own existence, bringing the supernatural struggle of life itself into greater focus. Highly recommend!!!
